Legion to meet

 

LISBON FALLS - Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street.
The agenda will include voting on new members and a presentation by Frank Norwood, Master Sergeant Retired, on the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program.
All members, prospective members and active-duty personnel are invited.

Military honors

 

AUGUSTA - Any person, active, National Guard or Reserve, who received an honorable discharge is eligible for military funeral honors.
The rendering of military funeral honors for Armed Forces veterans is a tribute that veterans and their families deserve and are entitled to. Section 578 of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2000 requires the Department of Defense to provide, upon request, military funeral honors for eligible veterans.
The program is in place and providing appropriate military funeral honors to veterans. Those who did not receive appropriate military funeral honors may also be honored.
Veterans, families of veterans, funeral directors and residents are encouraged to call 626-7822 or e-mail frank.norwood1@us.army.mil for more information.

Legion meeting

 

LISBON FALLS - Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street.
The agenda will include voting on new members, the report of the Nominating Committee for 2007/08 officers and voting for officers, with nominations from the floor accepted.
Installation will be at the Wednesday, June 6, meeting. All members, perspective members and active-duty personnel are invited.
Members are reminded that Post 66 will dispense refreshments at Post 158 following the Memorial Day parade, and a few volunteers will be needed. Those who wish to participate should call Bill at 353-4388

 

American Legion to hold contest

LISBON FALLS - Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Slovak meeting room, Avery Street.
The agenda will include a report on the recent Iraq Christmas Project. All members, prospective members and active duty personnel are invited.
Members are asked to attend the American Legion oratorical contest, moderated by Post 66 and hosted by Post 158, Webster Street, Lisbon, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6. The winner will advance to the District 3 contest at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. That winner will advance to the state semi-finals at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Thomas College, Waterville.
