LEWISTON

The Sabattus 3rd District, American Legion Post 135, Bell and Drum Corps will appear in Lewiston's Memorial Day parade on Saturday, May 26, and in the Sabattus parade on Monday, May 28.
Saturday's parade will start at 9 a.m. Beginning at Lewiston's Kennedy Park. The Sabattus parade will step off at 9 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the Sabattus American Legion Post 135.
Most of the players are retired from Lewiston's 133rd Engineer Battalion, Maine Army National Guard, and were members of the original Guard Drum Corps that was started in 1982. Three of the players, Kelly Bickford, Peter Bellegarde and Bob Smith, are still active members of the guard and have recently served in Iraq.
The corps has provided music for more than 20 years for the Sabattus American Legion Memorial Day parades.
Groups or organizations wishing to participate in the parades should contact the following: Lewiston, Bert Dutil, 786-2305; Sabattus, Commander Ed Nadeau, 375-4058.

The first time I watched these veterans perform I could not stop smiling and a feeling of joy seemed to swell within my heart. They were sensational and heart warming.
