"The world must be made safe for democracy"

On November 24, 1973 a Memorial Fund was placed in an account of 1,800.00 to be re-opened in November 2023. The monies will be divided between the Town of Turner and the Leavitt Institute, now the Leavitt High School. The amount was projected to be approximately 90,000 dollars plus. With the increase of interest rates the projected amount is even higher today.

These were the boys of Turner in whose memory this Memorial fund is raised.

The record of this event can be found in "Turner after 1886" by James H. Willard, printed by Heritage Books, Inc. 1986. It was an impressive scene as Turner residents and dignitaries consecrated the Memorial Fund as a tribute to her Men who served the armed forces in World War I. The fund will benefit Education and all Citizens a Century from now in the year 2023.
